Where to find an internship
« on: March 14, 2013, 02:49:21 pm »
One of the greatest resources for Advertising students is their local Ad Club.  If you visit The American Advertising Federation (www.aaf.org) you will be able to search for local clubs in your area.  Often by becoming a student member, you can get access to local job listings including internship opportunities.  AAF also has a a job search function on their website, no membership needed, and they often list internships as well.

Another way to locate an internship is to research local agencies and find a few that you would be interested in working with.  Try emailing or calling their HR department and ask if they offer internships.  As internships are often unpaid, many companies are willing to take a student on who shows initiative and reaches out to them for the opportunity.

One final place to look for an internship is with your current employer.  If you happen to work for a company that has a marketing department or works with a local agency, see if they will allow you to intern.  This can not only help you gain experience in the field, but may even help you move up in your current company!
