Did you fall behind?
« on: September 28, 2013, 06:40:44 pm »
It happens, you are moving along in class and then things got busy, or you had to work extra, or your child was sick and you fell behind in class.  Now you are losing points for late work and you are nervous about contacting your instructor and you just don't know what to do.

If this happens, the first thing you should do is contact your advisor and your instructor.  They both already know you have been late or missed work, so don't be embarrassed or avoid them.  Then, be honest, explain what happened and ask what the next step is.  Depending on the course, instructor and reason the work was missed or late, there may be a chance to make it up with no or only a small penalty.  Sometimes nothing can be done about missed points, but it is still important to talk to your instructors as they will tell you what to focus on to stay on schedule, be on time and not miss any more assignments.  Remember that your advisor and your instructors want to see you succeed, so contact them and ask for help if you fall behind.
