Live Student Workshops / Library Workshops August 2017

The following LIVE online workshops are available in August to all AiPOD students, faculty, and staff.  These workshops are hosted by the Ask Today On Call Library Service.  All workshops are approximately 45-60 minutes in length.
Note: Users must register prior to the workshop.  Registration is simple—click on the link under the title of the workshop you wish to attend and follow the prompts.  Attendees at the live workshops receive a certificate of completion.

Credo Reference (Formerly Literati by Credo) ~ Tuesday, 8/8 @ 8 PM ET (5 PM PT)
Introducing Credo Reference! Formerly known as Literati by Credo, this online reference library is a great place for starting your research with its collection of over 800 reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.), image collections, and video sets. Added features include one-stop-shopping topic pages and topical mind maps. Find out how to put these to work for your next project!

Analyzing Information for Academic Credibility ~ Tuesday, 8/15 @ 7 PM ET (4 PM PT)
One important aspect of using information in classwork is to be sure that the resource is academically credible and useful for an assignment. This webinar will give you pointers on how to verify the information you use.

Audio Resources in the Online Library ~ Sunday, 8/20 @ 5 PM ET (2 PM PT)
The online library has a great collection of audio resources that are available for a variety of educational projects. This webinar will discuss these databases, as well as discuss how to search the public Internet to find audio material that can be used legally without additional permission.

Insight from WGSN ~ Sunday, 8/27 @ 5 PM ET (2 PM PT)
Learn about Insight, a new consumer and market intelligence tool available now on WGSN. In this session, we will also highlight components from the other WGSN sections available to all members of The Art Institutes: Fashion and Lifestyles & Interiors.

AutoCAD and Reusable Content

Have you ever wondered what AutoCAD can do for you?  Why is it an important tool in interior design?  This workshop will talk about the benefits of reusable content, with an overview of using layers to organize your drawings, using blocks, and creating templates.  It will also cover some ideas on best practices and ways to be efficient using AutoCAD.

ID on Demand - Interior Design Overview

"An Overview of the Interior Design Profession" - What is an Interior Designer?  What is the difference between a designer and a decorator?  What are the available career paths for an interior designer?  This podcast will answer these questions and discuss criteria that constitute establishing a profession – education, examination, a code of ethics, and professional organizations.  We will discuss ASID, IIDA, CIDA, NCIDQ, and important skills that professional interior designers need to be successful.

Graduating from a CIDA accredited program is impressive enough, but achieving NCIDQ certification is a true realization of your professional qualifications.
It means you are not only qualified by education and experience (as the internship and professional experience is a prerequisite) but you have also been shown by examination to be proficient in all areas of interior design, including aesthetics, function and technical abilities.
