AutoCAD Colors and types of layers
« on: February 19, 2014, 08:26:31 pm »
I need to start a new project in AutoCAD for the first time on my own.  I am not sure about what layers I should create, and what should go on each layer.  Also does it matter which colors are used for certain layers?

Jilleen,
It would help to know which course you are taking.
I have attached the layer spreadsheet from the introduction course ID221, Wk 2 A1 Layers.PDF.
I also attached the ID Online Dept. Standards, which have layers/ colors/ line weights in it as well.
I would ask your instructor which one to follow.
I hope this helps. If not, let us know what you need.
Thanks,
Nina

Nina,

Thank you for those pdfs.  I will look over them.  My class is Drafting Technology.  It was actually part of my assignment to post a question in the help forum so we can explore this resource more.  Actually this is my first time using this, I see it is
helpful.  Thank you for your help.

Awesome Jilleen. Yes, use this resource, especially for CAD.
Given the course you are taking, use the ID Standards document.
