standard colors for layers
« on: November 17, 2011, 11:12:15 pm »
Hi,

What are the universal/standard colors for layers?  (outer walls=what color,  dimension lines= what color,  etc.)?

Thanks,

Christine,

There really are no industry standard for layer colors.  Each firm will have it's own CAD standards that are usually tied to a pen table style for plotting.  I will say that it is most customary to use the first 9 colors available in AutoCAD.  Keep in mind that colors 250-255 provide varying degrees of gray tone or screening.  I do recommend using different colors to give yourself visual cues as to which layer elements are on.  Also, if you use the line weight BYLAYER method, it really doesn't matter what colors you use.
