AutoCad blocks for outside sources
« on: February 01, 2017, 09:00:29 am »
Hi everyone,
My question is about using AutoCad blocks for outside sources. I am having trouble getting blocks from outside sources to properly insert into my model space. I do not have this issue every time. Here is the way I have been trouble shooting.

1. I will download the set of blocks from cad-corner or cadcorner.net.
2. I will go to insert the block.
3. The blocks come in too big once inserted and a block is created.
4. I have tried making the blocks annotative and checking block references.

Please help.

Taj  ;D

Taj,
I don't recommend making the blocks annotative unless they are items that need to change size based on the scale of the drawing.  For example, elevation tags, drawing labels etc. would make sense to be annotative.  Other blocks like furniture, plumbing fixtures, etc. would not be annotative as it should be life size in modelspace regardless of what scale the drawing will be plotted.  The other thing to check is to go into Drawing Units and make sure your "insertion scale" is set to inches.  Check that first, and post again if that is not the issue.  It may also be helpful to post your drawing to help troubleshoot the issue.
