Louis Sullivan - Something to think about!
« on: August 13, 2013, 03:02:52 pm »
Louis Sullivan was the one that coined the phrase “FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION”!

Louis Sullivan was the first to use this term in Modern design, but the quote actually went as follows; "It is the pervading law of all things organic, and inorganic, of all things physical and metaphysical, of all things human and all things super-human, of all true manifestations of the head, of the heart, of the soul, that the life is recognizable in its expression, that form ever follows function. This is the law."(Educational National Gallery of Art, par 3).

There’s an interesting article that you all might want to look over, it tells more about how this term has been misquoted and misrepresented throughout the years. Let me know what you think (Rawsthorn).
